The newly appointed Bangladesh Ambassador to Nepal Mashfee Binte Shams presented her credentials to Nepal President Ram Baran Yadav yesterday.
The Bangladesh envoy recalled the traditional and historical linkages between the two countries at a programme arranged on the occasion at the Sheetal Nivaas (the presidential palace of Nepal).
She also conveyed the desire of the government of Bangladesh to strengthen and deepen bilateral relations between the two countries.
President Ram Baran Yadav recalled with gratitude the Friends of Bangladesh Award conferred on him by the Bangladesh government for his contribution to the independence of Bangladesh in 1971.
He referred to the various areas of bilateral cooperation, including trade and commerce, cultural exchange, and people-to-people contacts, between the two countries.
The president hopped that the two countries would be able to harness the potential for mutual benefit.
He also conveyed his warm greetings to the president, prime minister and the people of Bangladesh.
