Khalek, also a member of ward No 5 of Bagoan union, said he was returning home from the market on an easy-bike around 11:00am.
As soon as he had reached Panchkhain School, four BNP cadres -- Mozammel, Belal, Nazrul Islam Minto and Sumon -- intercepted his vehicle by a CNG-run three-wheeler coming from the opposite direction, and opened fire on his vehicle from guns, he added.

But the enraged locals chased the attackers and caught Mozammel and Sumon at Choumuhuni of nearby Pahartali union in the upazila, said Pahartali union parishad (UP) member Mohammed Ayub.
They mob then beat Mozammel and Sumon to death while the other two managed to flee.
On information, police reached the spot, recovered the bodies, and sent those to Chittagong Medical College morgue for autopsies, said Enamul Haque, officer-in-charge of Raozan Police Station.
Khalek said Mozammel and his gang had been threatening him to leave the area over the phone for the last week so that they could establish supremacy in the locality, as the tenure of the present government is about to expire.
Mohammed Ariful Alam, secretary of Bagoan union unit of Awami League, alleged that the four were known as BNP cadres and were the followers of BNP leader Gias Uddin Quader Chowdhury.
