Lux Channel I superstar Mehzabin
Mehzabin has been able to establish herself as a talented model and actress within the space of only three years. She has worked in many TV dramas and advertisements, increasing her popularity in Bangladesh. Winner of Lux Channel I Superstar 2009, she joined the likes of renowned beauties such as Rachel Weis, Aishwarya Rai, Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif as the brand ambassador of the world famous soap brand for women, Lux.
Born in Chittagong, Mehzabin spent her young life in Dubai with her family, where she was studying for her O' Levels. While she was abroad, Mehzabin actively took part in cultural programmes and dramas held in her school. She always knew about Lux Channel I Superstar but as she was living abroad she was not able to pursue it.
“Fortunately for me, the auditions for Lux Channel I Superstar in 2009 happened at the same time I was in Bangladesh,” says Mehzabin. “I thought to myself, why not try something different? I immediately applied and I was delighted when I got a chance to participate.”
Mehzabin's family has always been supportive of anything she wanted to do in her life and encouraged her in this chosen path as well.
The road to being the Lux Channel I Superstar was not easy. There are more than 10,000 girls around Bangladesh who apply every year and the initial auditions are very competitive due to the large number of applicants. Once the lucky few are chosen, they are sent to live for 3 months in a “camp” where there are various training programmes held everyday.
“We had to wake up at 6am every morning and then our classes started,” recalls Mehzabin. “We had rehearsals, photo shoots and training classes. We also had regular exercise regimens and were given healthy meals” she said.
Mehzabin's experience in this camp was a positive one. She says that all the training she received is the reason for her work ethics today. Regarding the show, Mehzabin thinks everyone should apply because it was a once in a lifetime experience for her and her fellow competitors.
“We were given important life lessons,” she says. “We learned about good manners, etiquette, performance, presentation and punctuality.” Mehzabin encourages all aspiring superstars to keep an open mind and always try to absorb what the mentors are teaching.
Mehzabin has been very busy as the brand ambassador of Lux. “There are a lot of products I have done shoots for, the most recent one being the Lux Sandal and Cream Soap, which has its own billboards and print advertisements.” As an immensely popular brand in Bangladesh, Lux provided a huge platform for Mehzabin's career.
Mehzabin is currently rehearsing for a famous award show, shooting for Eid television programmes, taking part in modelling photo shoots and preparing to start working on a movie.
When asked about what her plans for the future are, this rising star replies humbly, “I try not to plan anything too much. I entered this competition spontaneously, and in the same way I take every day as it comes. I want to go with the flow and see what happens.” So far, good things have been happening to the talented Mehzabin and she will surely only get better.
