Jubo Dal leader, activist killed in Comilla, Bogra

A leader and an activist of Jubo Dal were murdered in Comilla and Bogra districts yesterday.
A leader of the youth front of opposition BNP was stabbed to death allegedly by Awami League activists in Gouripur area under Daudkandi upazila of Comilla early yesterday, reports our correspondent.
The deceased is Jahangir Sarkar, 35, general secretary of Gouripur union Jubo Dal and son of Fazar Ali of Hatchandina village in the upazila.
Abul Faysal, officer in-charge of Daudkandi police station, said two local AL activists-- Sajeb, 23, and Shawon, 20, of the upazila--attacked Jahangir with sharp weapons, leaving him critically injured.
He was rushed to Gouripur Health Complex where the on duty doctors declared him dead. The body was sent to Comilla Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy, said the OC.
Police said Jahangir might have been killed following previous enmity.
However, elder brother of the deceased, Manik Sarkar, said criminals killed his brother as he refused to pay illegal toll.
A murder case was filed in this connection.
Away in Bogra, a Jubo Dal activist was killed and his elder brother was injured in an attack by a gang at their residence in Chok Sutrpur area of the town yesterday afternoon.
The deceased is Imran Sheikh, 28, a member of Juba Dal ward-4 of the municipality unit and son of Kalu Sheikh of the area, reports our correspondent.
Injured Helu Sheikh, 35, was rushed to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital.
Family sources said, a gang of masked criminals swooped on the house around 1:30pm and stabbed the two siblings, leaving Imran dead on the spot.
BNP district unit office secretary Mahfuzar Rahman Raju blamed local Jubo League men for the killing.
Jubo League district unit leader Aminul Islam Dablu, however, refuted the allegation.
Assistant superintendent of police Gaziur Rahman said the killing might have occurred over a family feud.
