Shahbagh came into life again as slogans rocked the heart of the city moments after the Supreme Court dismissed Quader Mollah's petition to review death penalty.

Hundreds of youths rushed to Shahbagh to join the Gonojagoron Mancha activists who have been staying there since Tuesday to celebrate the execution of the death row Jamaat leader.

In his immediate reaction, Imran H Sarker, one of spokesman of the platform, said, "The execution of the verdict is very much important as other war crimes cases will follow the same procedure."

"Only after the execution of the verdict, we will be confident about getting justice in other cases," he said.

"Joy holo bhai joy holo, Shahbagher joy holo" (It's a victory of Shabagh), "Joy holo bhai joy holo, muktijuddher joy holo" (It's victory of the Liberation War).

Hundreds of youths in procession carrying flags of Bangladesh were pouring in from different directions of the capital.

They flashed V sign and chanted slogans "Joy Bangla" (Victory of Bengal).

Besides, people of all ages thronged the intersection, now known as 'Projonmo Chattar' since early morning as the SC was scheduled to hear the petition today.

Meanwhile, at least four policemen were injured as Shibir activists hurled several crude bombs at them in capital's Nabisco area around 7:05pm.

Two injured constables were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, confirmed Habibullah Khan, sub-inspector and duty officer of Tejgaon Industrial Police Station.
