Claims Qamrul Islam saying goal was to kill Hasina, overthrough govt

State Minister for Law Qamrul Islam yesterday said the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), spy agency of Pakistan, has been hatching a conspiracy to topple Sheikh Hasina-led government through BNP and Jamaat-e-Islam.
The ISI started the conspiracy at first through the killing at BDR headquarters in 2009, and the prime target of the killing was to kill Sheikh Hasina, he said.
Qamrul said this at a press briefing at the conference room of the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs, a law ministry press release said.
The state minister said the ISI had instigated the incident of the killing at BDR headquarters.
BNP leader Salauddin Quader Chowdhury had distributed Tk 40 crore among former BDR director general Fazlur Rahman and others, which was published on the website of CNN and in national dailies, he said.
Qamrul said the government had decided to take action against those, who were involved in the incident, after examining the CNN report.
Urging the country's people to become aware and united about the conspiracy, he said the foreign agents of the defeated anti-liberation force were trying to overthrow the government, the press release added.
