Double-decker vs. articulated buses

An interesting and thought-provoking article on double-decker buses was published in the pages of an English financial daily on 18th April. It deserves serious consideration and financial evaluation by BRTC authorities. The proposed interesting idea of having only all standing room passenger facilities on some buses running on the busy routes particularly during office time deserves a trial by BRTC. This facility can ease the peak hour rush to some extent and can be cost effective fuel wise. BRTC should carry out a realistic cost benefit analysis between normal and all-standing bus services. I firmly believe that the standing service buses will be viable even if passenger fares are reduced by 25 percent!
Further, it will be interesting to compare the operating costs between normal sitting service double-decker buses and the articulated long buses introduced recently by BRTC. A total cost benefit analysis definitely has been done by BRTC, before going for the articulated buses from India.
It will be appreciated if the dailies can look into it, and publish it for public interest, as no other considerations should come in analysis of this important cost-benefit projection on operating the two types of buses!
