ACC finds irregularities in food, medicine supply at Lalmonirhat hospital

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) today found irregularities in the supply of food and medicines at the 250-Bed Lalmonirhat Sadar Hospital during a sudden special raid.

The raid, conducted around noon, involved a detailed examination of patient meals, government-supplied medicines, and the hospital's medical supply storeroom, said Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury, deputy assistant director of the ACC's Kurigram regional office, who led the drive.

Following the inspection, ACC officials reported that patients were receiving only 50 grammes of food, despite an official allocation of 90 grams, he said.

The team also found evidence of irregularities in the distribution and management of medicines and other medical supplies, Chowdhury told reporters.

"A detailed report of the drive will be submitted to the commission. Based on the findings, legal action will be taken as per the commission's decision," he added.

Hospital Superintendent Abdul Mokaddem and Resident Medical Officer (RMO) Samira Hossain Chowdhury were present during the inspection.

In response, physician Mokaddem told journalists, "The ACC did not find any major irregularities or corruption. There are some minor issues, and we are working to resolve them."
