A murder case was filed on Monday against 23 Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) men in connection with the killing of former JCD leader Foyzul Haque Raju in Sylhet on August 11. 

Raju's uncle Dabir Ali filed the case with Kotwali Police Station accusing Abdur Rakib Chowdhury, member of JCD central unit, Delwar Hossain Dinar, general secretary of JCD Sylhet district unit and 21 others, said Officer-in-Charge Mosarraf Hossain.

On Sunday, police detained three former JCD leaders Liton Ahmed, Ekhlasur Rahman Munna and Anwar Hossain Raju.

The trio was sent to jail the following day, after they were shown arrested in vandalism cases filed against them on different dates. 

Raju was killed on August 11 at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, around an hour after he came under attack allegedly from some rival men during celebration of the victory of newly elected Mayor Ariful Haque Choudhury.

Insiders said a feud over newly formed committees of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal's (JCD) district and city units was behind the murder of Raju.

The two injured, Jakir Hossain Ujjal and Salah Liton are receiving treatment.

Raju, 32, was former assistant publicity secretary of Sylhet city unit JCD. He hailed from Shahpur of Rajnagar upazila in Moulvibazar.

No one has been arrested in the murder case, Mosarraf Hossain, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station said.
