Biman acts after flight glitches: Officials transferred, probe ordered

Following a string of recent technical malfunctions on its flights, Biman Bangladesh Airlines has begun taking disciplinary action against staff accused of negligence and lapses in duty.
In a statement issued today, the national flag carrier said it has already made changes in manpower management to ensure greater accountability. Two officials have been transferred, while decisions have been taken to replace several others.
"One engineering official has been transferred as a punitive measure, while another engineering official in Chattogram has been served a show-cause notice," Biman said.
A four-member investigation committee has been formed to review in detail all technical problems that occurred between July 1 and August 13, 2025.
The committee will examine maintenance records and operational processes linked to each incident in order to trace the root causes and determine whether negligence or lapses by any officials or staff contributed to the issues.
It has also been tasked with making recommendations to prevent recurrence of such problems. The committee must submit its report within 10 working days. Biman emphasised that it is conducting thorough investigations into every incident, with passenger safety and service standards being treated as its "top priority."
