Ruling Awami League today nominated Shahjahan Alam Saju to contest Brahmanbaria-2 by-polls and Golam Faruque Pinku for Lakshmipur-3 by-elections.

Saju is the general secretary of Swadhinata Shikshak Parishad and Pinku is the president of Lakshmipur district AL.

The by-elections in the two seats will be held on November 5.

The nomination was finalised at a meeting of the AL Parliamentary Board held at Gono Bhaban this evening. AL President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina chaired the meeting.

AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader announced the names at a briefing after the meeting. Board members Amir Hossain Amu, Tofail Ahmed, Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, and Abul Hasanat Abdullah were also present there.

The two seats fell vacant following the deaths of Brhammanbaria-2 MP Abdus Sattar Bhuiyan and Lakshmipur-3 MP AKM Shajahan Kamal on September 30.
