BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is now on complete rest at her residence, Firoza, in Gulshan, following the advice of her medical board.

BNP Media Cell member Sayrul Kabir Khan confirmed this to The Daily Star at 12:27am, citing the party chief's personal physician, AZM Zahid Hossain, also a BNP Standing Committee member.

She returned to Dhaka on Tuesday morning after a four-month stay in the United Kingdom for advanced medical treatment.

Meanwhile, last evening, Khaleda's daughter-in-law Zubaida Rahman took her mother, Iqbal Mand Banu, to their Dhanmondi residence from Square Hospital, where she had been admitted since May 2.

After collecting the discharge papers, Zubaida, along with her elder sister Shahina Zaman, took their mother to the family home in Dhanmondi.

Earlier that afternoon, Zubaida left the Gulshan residence, Firoza, and first visited her father's grave at Banani Military Graveyard.

Her father, Rear Admiral Mahbub Ali Khan, a former Navy chief, passed away in 1984.

She offered prayers at the designated prayer space for women before paying her respects.
