Call all-party meeting to resolve issues

Jamaat chief urges Yunus

Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman has urged Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus to convene an all-party meeting to resolve the country's ongoing political crisis.

He made the call during an emergency meeting of the party's executive committee held at its central office in the capital's Moghbazar yesterday, reports UNB.

Shafiqur emphasised the need for inclusive dialogue and urged Yunus to take the initiative to unite all political parties for a solution-oriented discussion.

The meeting, attended by senior Jamaat leaders, discussed the prevailing national situation, according to a press release issued by the party last evening.

Earlier, the Jamaat chief, in a Facebook post, called on all "anti-fascist" forces to set aside pride, grievances, and anger, and act responsibly in the national interest.

"Let us all act with the utmost sense of responsibility from our respective positions. May Allah help this nation and protect it from all kinds of harm," he wrote around 4:34pm yesterday.

In another post at 12:15pm, Shafiqur urged everyone to refrain from raising sensitive or controversial issues during this period of national crisis.

"A positive role in overcoming the crisis will only benefit the nation. A negative role never brings any welfare."
