Truck, covered van, lorry movement to be restricted for smooth Eid travel

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) today announced special traffic control measures, including a six-day restriction on truck, covered van, and lorry movement on highways, to ensure smooth travel ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.
In a press release signed by Muhammad Talebur Rahman, deputy commissioner of the Media and Public Relations Division of the DMP, said that over one crore people leave Dhaka and around 30 lakhs enter the city during Eid.
To facilitate uninterrupted travel, the traffic division has implemented various measures.
Following a meeting on March 9 with the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges and the Ministry of Railways, key decisions were made, including restrictions on truck, covered van, and lorry movement from March 25 to March 28 and for three days after Eid.
Traffic control measures will be enforced on specific roads from March 25 until the night before Eid.
The Abdullahpur to Dhour Bridge section of the Dhaka-Ashulia Highway will be designated for outbound vehicles only, while incoming vehicles from Ashulia will be rerouted through Panchabati to enter Gabtoli or other areas via the Mirpur Beribadh road.
On the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway, BRT lanes from the Airport to Gazipur will be used solely for outbound traffic. Incoming BRT vehicles will share lanes with other vehicles, while the BRT inbound lane will remain closed to general traffic.
To ease congestion, authorities have advised avoiding certain roads unless necessary. These include the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway (Airport to Abdullahpur), the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway (Jatrabari to Signboard), the Purbachal Expressway (300 Feet Road), the Dhaka-Aricha Highway (Shyamoli to Gabtoli), the Dhaka-Keraniganj Road (Fulbaria to Babubazar Bridge), the Dhaka-Mawa Highway (Jatrabari to Buriganga Bridge), the Mohammadpur-Basila Crossing to Basila Bridge, and the Abdullahpur to Dhour Bridge Road.
The DMP has urged all drivers and city residents to adhere to these directives to maintain traffic discipline and reduce congestion.
