Rokeya Begum, mother of eminent journalist Tipu Sultan, head of reporting of Prothom Alo, died on Wednesday night while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Feni at the age of 75.

She was suffering from different old-age complications like diabetes and heart diseases.

Rokeya left behind six sons, a daughter and a host of well-wishers to mourn her death.

She was buried at her family graveyard at Sonapur village under Feni Sadar upazila yesterday. Several journalists' association expressed deep shock at her death.
