Nur thanks interim govt for inclusive Victory Day programme

Gono Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur has thanked the interim government for organising an inclusive national programme marking Victory Day today.
Mentioning the harassment opposition parties have had to experience during tributes to freedom fighters on special occasions during the Awami League regime, he said, "Over the past 53 years, the ideals of the Liberation War—equality, human dignity, social justice, and the creation of a democratic state free from discrimination—have not been realised, particularly in the last 15 years. This has reignited a nationwide call for rebuilding the vision of the Liberation War."
"We thank the interim government for organising an inclusive national program that has brought together people from all walks of life, irrespective of their political affiliations," said Nur, also the former vice president of Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU), while paying a tribute to the freedom fighters at the National Memorial.
Leaders from various political parties were able to convey their respect in a simple and dignified atmosphere, he acknowledged, adding that he hopes this transformation, which reflects the aspirations of the masses, will be sustainable and permanent.
Reflecting on recent reforms and elections, Nur urged political parties to assist the interim government in this regard.
"The government, in turn, must work towards achieving these goals," he added.
