Govt calls for patience as it discusses AL ban with parties

The government is seriously considering the demands made by various political parties, organisations and members of the public to ban the Awami League over allegations of authoritarianism and criminal activities, according to a statement posted on the Chief Adviser's verified Facebook page.
According to the statement, the government has already established communication with political parties and will reach a swift decision through discussions with them.
"The government is taking into account the United Nations report concerning criminal activities by leaders and supporters of the Awami League," the statement said, urging everyone to "remain patient" until then.
Noting that the government, in response to public demand and in accordance with existing laws, has already banned the criminal organisation Chhatra League, the statement added, "The government has taken the initiative to introduce necessary amendments to the International Crimes Tribunal Act in order to take action against organisations involved in crimes against humanity."
The Facebook post also mentioned that the government was aware of the public outrage following the recent overseas travel of Abdul Hamid, "former president of the fascist government", who is accused in a murder case.
"The government is committed to taking appropriate legal action against all individuals involved in this incident," The CA said.
