Rezaul Karim Mallick, who was relieved of his duties as the chief of the Detective Branch of DMP recently, has been made the deputy inspector general of Dhaka Range Police.

The Ministry of Home Affairs today issued a circular in this regard.

Rezaul will replace current DIG AKM Awlad Hossain, who has been given the charge of additional inspector general (current charge) of Police Telecom.

Earlier on April 12, DMP Commissioner Sheikh Mohammad Sajjat Ali relieved Rezaul from his duty and attached to DMP headquarters, saying that it has been done in the interest of administrative purposes until further notice.

The decision of his attachment came days after police detectives detained a model, Meghna Alam, who was later sent to jail for 30 days under the Special Powers Act.

In the same circular, additional IGP (current charge) Md Sibgat Ullah of Industrial Police was transferred to Criminal Investigation Department (CID) while DIG Gazi Jasim Uddin of CID has been transferred to Industrial Police. 

Additional IGP Tawfique Mahbub Chowdhury of Police Headquarters has been transferred to Bangladesh Police Academy in Rajshahi while Additional IGP Shoyeb Riaz Alam of Police Headquarters has been made the chief of Special Security and Protection Battalion.
