road accident on Chattogram Cox’s Bazar highway

The bullet-hit body of a Rapid Action Battalion officer was recovered from the Rab-7 Chandgaon camp in Chattogram today.

The deceased, Palash Shaha, 37, was a BCS cadre of the 37th batch, serving as a senior assistant superintendent of police (ASP) attached to Rab-7, police confirmed.

The incident occurred on the third floor of the camp.

Md Arif Hossain, assistant commissioner of Panchlaish Zone, confirmed that the body was found inside the officer's office. "Upon receiving information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body," he said.

Lt Col Hafizur Rahman, commanding officer of Rab-7, confirmed the presence of a note at the scene. "As I arrived in the office this morning, a clerk informed me that he found a bullet-hit body," he said.

Asked if Hafizur heard any gunshot, he added, "His room was locked from inside. Due to the scorching heat, a fan was switched on as well. Perhaps, this is why the sound evaded everyone else."

The body will be sent for an autopsy before being handed over to the family, Rab officials said.
