Mahathir Hasan, an FIR-named accused in the case filed over the killing of Primeasia University student Jahidul Islam Parvez, yesterday gave his confessional statements to a Dhaka magistrate.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Mizanur Rahman sent Mahathir to jail after recording his statements when the investigator produced him at his chamber with a police forwarding report, said a court staffer.

Details of the statements could not be known immediately.

On April 23, another accused Al Kamal Sheikh gave his confessional statements to the magistrate. Law enforcers have so far arrested six accused, including three FIR-named ones.

On April 19, Parvez, 24, a third-year student of the university, was stabbed to death in front of the campus in Banani.

The next day, his cousin, Humayun Kabir, filed the case with Banani Police Station, naming eight people, including Sobhan Niyaz Tushar, joint convener of Students Against Discrimination's Banani thana unit, and Hriday Miazi, joint member secretary of the same unit, and accusing 25-30 unnamed individuals.
