The Bangladesh Army, in coordination with other law enforcement agencies, has arrested 258 individuals during joint operations conducted across the country from May 15 to 21, 2025, according to a press release issued by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The operations were carried out by units under various the Infantry Divisions and Independent Brigades of the Army, covering Dhaka and several other regions.

The arrested individuals include murder suspects, illegal arms holders, listed terrorists, smugglers, juvenile gang members, illegal soil extractors, drug dealers and addicts, and members of fraud syndicates, the release read.

Security forces recovered 14 illegal firearms, 105 rounds of ammunition, various narcotics, locally made weapons used in criminal activities, stolen mobile phones, and cash from the arrestees.

All detainees were handed over to local police stations after preliminary interrogation for further legal proceedings.

To ensure public safety across the country, the Bangladesh Army continues to conduct regular patrols and security operations. In industrial zones, army patrol teams played a vital role in defusing labour unrest. Additionally, in incidents of accidental fires in different locations, army personnel assisted the fire service in protecting lives and property by directly engaging in firefighting operations.

The ISPR reaffirmed that the army remains committed to maintaining peace and order across the country and will continue such operations as necessary.

Citizens have been urged to report any suspicious activities to their nearest army camp, the release added.
