Woman killed ‘by husband’ in Dhaka’s Dakkhinkhan

A woman was hacked to death allegedly by her husband in the capital's Dakkhinkhan area this evening.

The victim is Shilpi Begum, 26, of Bhola, said police.

Her husband, Tuhin Mia, 28, of Jamalpur was arrested in this connection.

Both of them worked at a garments factory in Dakkhinkhan. They have a three-year-old daughter.

Dakshinkhan Police Station Sub-Inspector Jahirul Islam said the man hacked his wife with a sharp weapon around 5:00am in front of a tea stall in the Chalabon area's Chaity intersection. She died on the spot.

On information, police went to the spot and recovered the body.

SI Jahirul said police arrested Tuhin Mia and seized the weapon.

Police suspected that the murder happened over a marital dispute.

The body was sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College for autopsy.
