Singer Noble arrested on rape charge

Police arrested singer Mainul Ahsan Noble from Dhaka's Demra area early today in connection with a rape case.

Md Murad Hossain, inspector (investigation) of Demra Police Station, confirmed the arrest.

A police team arrested him from Sarulia at Demra around 2:00am after a woman filed a case against him on charges of rape and torture, the officer said.

A student of Eden Mahila College filed the case last night, said Mahmudur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Demra Police Station.

In the case statement, she alleged that Nobel abducted and raped her, the OC said.

The victim was sent to a hospital in Dhaka.
