Seven parts of an unidentified body found in Purbachal lake

Seven body parts of an unidentified man were found wrapped in three separate plastic bags in a lake at the Purbachal area of Rupganj in Narayanganj district.

Police recovered the body parts on Wednesday afternoon and sent them to the Narayanganj General Hospital's morgue for autopsy, said Liaqat Ali, officer-in-charge of Rupganj Police Station.

The unidentified man's age is approximately 40 years old, said police.

According to the police and locals, a rickshaw puller first discovered a smell coming from the lake next to the 300 feet road and called locals. The locals then found the body parts in plastic bags. On information, police rushed to the place and recovered the body parts.

However, two body parts of the deceased couldn't be found, said OC.

"We are assuming that the man was killed at least 3 days before, and the body parts were dumped into the lake after wrapping them in three separate polybags."

Meanwhile, separate teams from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) visited the scene and collected evidence.
