The High Court today granted bail to Md Khaled Hassan Matin, proprietor of Lakehead Grammar School in Dhaka, on three conditions in a money laundering case involving Tk 3.3 crore.

The HC bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice AKM Zahirul Huq delivered the verdict following a petition filed by Khaled seeking bail in the case.

According to the conditions, Khaled must surrender his passport to the trial court, he cannot leave the country without permission from the court and cannot transfer the money of the school, Deputy Attorney General AKM Amin Uddin told The Daily Star.

The state will move an appeal before the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court challenging the HC verdict of bail.

Khaled's lawyer Ahsanul Karim told The Daily Star that following the HC verdict there is no legal bar for his client to get released from Dhaka Central Jail.

Police filed the case with Gulshan Police Station against Khaled on November 2, 2020.
