Rangpur police have arrested Nure Alam Rinku, the organising secretary of the Rangpur Metropolitan Jubo League.

He was arrested on Friday night (March 7) from the city's bus terminal area.

The arrest was confirmed today by Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ataur Rahman.

According to the OC, Rinku was accused of involvement in an attack on the activists of Students Against Discrimination during the July uprising.

Following the fall of AL-government on August 5, Rinku went into hiding to evade arrest. Acting on a tip-off, law enforcement officials captured him from the bus terminal area, he added.

Rinku has been shown arrested in connection with the case filed over the attack on the student movement, said the OC.
