Graft case: 2 close aides of PK Halder denied bail 

11 to die for murder in Joypurhat

A Dhaka court today rejected bail petitions of two close aides of Proshanto Kumar Haldar alias PK Haldar, the former managing director of NRB Global Bank, in a case filed over laundering Tk 80 crore to Canada and amassing about Tk 426 crore illegally.

The accused are Sukumar Mridha and his daughter Anindita Mridha.

The court also fixed March 27 for passing an order whether to accept the charges against PK Halder and 13 others in the case.

Judge KM Emrul Kayesh of Metropolitan Senior Special Judge's Court of Dhaka passed the rejection order after their lawyers moved two separate petitions, seeking bail in the case.

Sukumar and Anindita were arrested on January 21 last year and later, they gave confessional statements before magistrates.

Investigation Officer Md Salahuddin, also a deputy director of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), on February 10 submitted a 56-page charge sheet to the Metropolitan Senior Special Judge's Court of Dhaka against PK Halder, Sukumar, Anindita and 11 others.
