A Dhaka court has imposed a travel ban on Tuhin Farabi and Mahmudul Hasan, former personal officers to Health Adviser Nurjahan Begum, amid an ongoing investigation into allegations of corruption and abuse of power.

Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib of the Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge's Court issued the order today following a petition from Anti-Corruption Commission Assistant Director Mohammad Nur Alam Siddiqui, who is leading the inquiry.

The ACC said both men face allegations of using their positions for lobbying, extortion, manipulation of tenders, and amassing wealth through "illegal" means under real and proxy names.

"The ACC official came to know from a credible source that Farabi and Mahmudul were attempting to flee the country. If they flee, an inquiry into the allegations brought against them might be hampered. So, an order is needed to prevent them from doing so," said the ACC in its application.

The court also directed the ACC to take steps to block Farabi and Mahmudul's national identity cards and to send copies of the order to the Special Branch of police in Dhaka's Malibagh and EC Secretariat, Agargaon, for the next course of action.

On May 21, the ACC interrogated Farabi and Mahmudul over corruption allegations at the ACC headquarters.

On April 21, Farabi and Mahmudul were removed from their posts over corruption allegations.

Meanwhile, the same court issued a travel ban on Gazi Sahlahuddin Tanvir, who was suspended from the post of joint member secretary of National Citizen Party, after an application was submitted in this regard.
