‘Choto Sazzad's’ wife arrested over Ctg double murder

The wife of Chattogram Metropolitan Police's listed criminal Sazzad Hossain, known as Choto Sazzad, was arrested in connection with the Bakalia double murder that took place on March 30.
Police picked up Tamanna Sharmin from a relative's residence in Baroipara area under Chandgaon Police Station in Chattogram around 11:00pm yesterday, confirmed Inspector (Investigation) of of Bakalia Police Station Mozammel Haque.
"Tamanna is a named accused in the Bakalia double murder case. Soon after the case was filed, she went into hiding. Later, she secured bail from the High Court, but her bail expired a few days ago," said Mozammel.
Sazzad was arrested while roaming with Tamanna at Bashundhara Shopping Mall on March 15. During that time, she managed to escape.
Soon after Sazzad's arrest, Tamanna posted a video on Facebook saying, "We will spend bundles of money to bring him back. Be prepared -- those responsible for his arrest won't be spared."
Her immediate reaction went viral on social media, where people shared the video and demanded her arrest.
Following his arrest, just before Eid-ul-Fitr, two people were shot dead on March 30. Criminals on motorbikes opened fire, chasing a private car along Bakalia Access Road. The driver, Bakhtiar Hossain Manik, 28, and Abdullah Al Rifat were killed in the attack.
Police said the shootout spanned nearly three kilometres.
