Case filed against Hasina, 166 others in Kishoreganj over July killings

A case was filed against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, and 165 others for their alleged involvement in the attack on anti-discrimination students movement and killing of protesters during the July uprising in Kishoreganj.
Md Tariqul Islam, who was injured during the movement, filed the case with Kishoreganj Sadar Model Police Station on Monday, said Abdullah Al Mamun, officer-in-charge of the police station.
Tariqul is a resident of Narayanpur village under Netrokona's Kendu upazila and studies at Gurudayal Government College in Kishoreganj district headquarters.
The case statement alleged that the accused ordered to attack on protesters at Akhra Bazar and Shahidi Mosque area on August 4. The attackers, equipped with firearms and sharp weapons, carried out the attack.
At least three were killed and some others, including Tariqul, suffered bullet injuries, according to the case statement.
With this, over 50 "political cases" have so far been filed in different police stations of Kishoreganj since the ouster of the AL government on August 5 last year, according to district police.
Some 4,000 named people including Sheikh Hasina, former president Abdul Hamid, Obaidul Quader, and former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, and over 10,000 unnamed people were made accused in the cases.
