Abu Sayed killing: ICT-2 sets Thursday for cross examinations of witnesses

The prosecution today delivered opening statement before the International Crimes Tribunal-2 in a case filed over the killing of Abu Sayed, a student of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) who was killed in police firing during the July uprising last year.

The tribunal set tomorrow (Thursday) for cross examinations of the witnesses after Chief Prosecutor Tajul Islam delivered the opening statement.

BRUR's former vice-chancellor Md Hasibur Rashid, former Rangpur Metropolitan Police commissioner Md Moniruzzaman and 28 others are among the accused of the case.

On June 30, the ICT-2 took cognisance of charges against the 30 individuals accusing them of murder and crimes against humanity.

Meanwhile, the ICT-2 today sent two police personnel to jail after showing them arrested in another case over killing of three people in Mymensingh during the July uprising.

The accused are former sub-inspector Shafiqul Alam and former assistant sub-inspector Delowar Hossain.

The tribunal set September 28 for submitting investigation report in the case.
