3 activists of banned BCL held after procession in Ctg

Police detained three activists of banned Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) following a procession brought out by the organisation in Chattogram's Karnaphuli upazila early today.
Muhammad Sharif, officer-in-charge of Karnaphuli Police Station, confirmed the detention.
According to locals, some 15 to 20 people brought out a procession around 2:00am in Juldha area of the upazila, chanting slogans such as "Joy Bangla Joy Bangabandhu" and "Sheikh Hasina will return to the country soon".
The procession lasted seven to 10 minutes, they said.
The OC added that the detained individuals were members of the banned BCL and that drives were being conducted to arrest others who took part in the procession.
Police did not share the names of the detainees as they were still trying to apprehend the remaining participants, the OC said.
The interim government banned BCL on October 23 last year amid demands from the student movement against discrimination.
