7 dead in separate road accidents in Gazipur, Sirajganj

At least seven people have been killed in separate accidents in Gazipur and Sirajganj districts.

In Gazipur city, three persons, including two garment workers, were killed and four others, including a child, were injured as a private car hit a motorcycle on the Konabari flyover around 11:30am today (July 15, 2022).

The deceased were Raju Mia (30), of Manikganj, and garments workers Shaheen (32) and Shamim (31), of Rangpur, Konabari Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abu Bakr Siddique confirmed to our Gazipur correspondent reports.

The injured were admitted to the different hospitals.

In Gazipur's Sreepur, a woman and a child were killed in separate accidents last night (July 14, 2022).

The deceased were identified as Tamanna Akhter (11) of Panchagarh and Taslima Akhter (35) of Kalmakanda upazila of Netrakona, reports our local correspondent quoting Mohammad Moniruzzaman, OC of Sreepur police Station

Al-Amin with his wife and daughter Tamanna were returning to his workplace in Sreepur from Dinajpur on a motorcycle after the Eid holidays, said the OC.

When they reached Barama area on Mauna-Barmi Road around 8:30pm, a speeding truck coming from the opposite direction hit their motorcycle and the motorcycle overturned beside the road, leaving Tamanna dead on the spot, he added.

Al-Amin's wife Parul suffered injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, said the police official.

OC Aminul Islam of Mauna Highway Police Station said Taslima died on the spot after an unidentified bus hit her on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Rangila Bazar area while she was walking beside the highway around 9pm.

According to police, the drivers of the truck and the bus could not be detained. As there was no complaint, the bodies of the deceased were handed over to the relatives without any autopsy.

In Sirajganj, two people were killed at Mohishluti in Tarash upazila when a vehicle hit a pickup van early today (July 15, 2022), our Pabna correspondent reports quoting Hatikumrul Highway Police Station OC Md Lutfor Rahman

The victims were identified as Md Kiron Mridha (28) driver of a pickup van, and Jahangir Alam (47) a transport mechanic of Railway Koloni in Sirajganj Sadar upazila, he said.

Police recovered the bodies, he added.
