Two killed as nor’wester batters Mymensingh

Two people were killed in separate incidents during a nor'wester in Mymensingh's sadar upazila this afternoon.

The victims are Md Sajib Mia, 23, of Barera village; and Suruj Mia, 60, of Morakuri village in Mymensingh Sadar.

Quoting locals, Md Ariful Islam Prince, upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) of Mymensingh Sadar, said Sajib died on the spot when a tree uprooted during the nor'wester and fell on him while he was cutting grass for his cattle in the field around 4.00pm.

In another incident at the same time, Suruj sustained injuries when a broken branch of tree fell on him during the nor'wester.

He was immediately taken to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead.

The UNO who visited the spot after incidents said the victims' families were given financial support for the funeral of the victims.
