Two killed in lightning strikes in two districts

Two persons were killed in lightning strikes in Lalmonirhat and Kurigram yesterday morning.

The deceased are Safiar Rahman, 58, a betel trader of Patgram upazila; and Chameli Rani, 42, a farmer of Ulipur upazila.

Patgram Police Station's Officer-in-charge Swapan Kumar Sarkar said Safiar was struck by the lightning while he was on way to his shop from his house. He died on the spot.

Meanwhile, Ulipur Police Station's OC Zillur Rahman said Chameli went to bring her cows from the field as it was raining in the morning.

But she died when lightning hit the area at that time.
