Two bike riders killed in Cumilla road accident

Two motorcycle riders were killed as an unidentified vehicle hit their bike on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Sadar Dakshin upazila of Cumilla last night.

The deceased were identified as Shakil Hossain, 22, son of Md Salam from Mohammadpur in Dhaka; and Sahed Shimul, 24, son of Peyar Ahmed from Chhagalnaiya upazila in Feni.

Both riders died on the spot, said Iqbal Bahar, officer-in-charge of Mainamati Crossing Highway Police Station in Cumilla.

The incident took place in Jor Kanon area around 10:15pm, he said.

The OC added that bodies of the victims were recovered and kept at the station. The motorcycle involved in the accident was also seized. Once the families of the deceased arrive, the bodies will be handed over following legal procedures.

Legal action is being taken in connection with the incident, he added.
