A Turkish Airlines flight made an emergency landing at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport this morning following an "unexpected bird strike" on its second engine.

The flight, carrying 11 crew and 280 passengers, was going to Istanbul. All the passengers, crew, and the aircraft are safe.

The aircraft, TK713, had to return shortly after a successful take-off following the bird strike on its engine 2, a press release said.

According to the Dhaka Airport Traffic Control, immediately after take-off, its engine 2 caught fire. However, the captain informed that there was no fire but experienced severe vibration from the engine.

The plane was grounded due to an AOG (Aircraft on Ground) situation following the emergency landing at the Dhaka airport, it said.

As the aircraft requires repairs, the process will take some time. In the meantime, the passengers have been accommodated at nearby hotels for their comfort and rest, the release added.
