Ice cream vendor killed, motorcyclist injured in Kalmakanda

An elderly ice cream vendor was killed and a motorcyclist seriously injured in a road accident around 3:30pm today in the Ramnathpur area of the Panchgaon border road in Kalmakanda, Netrakana.
The deceased is Idris Ali, 60, an ice cream vendor of Rongchhati union, while the injured motorcyclist is Roni, 19, of Chandalipara village in Dharmapasha upazila of Sunamganj, confirmed Md Feruz Hossain, officer-in-charge of Kalmakanda Police Station.
Quoting witnesses, OC Feruz said that Idris Ali was returning home after selling ice cream when a speeding motorcycle coming from the opposite direction hit him in the Ramnathpur area.
Both Idris Ali and the motorcyclist fell onto the road with severe injuries, and locals rushed them to Kalmakanda Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared Idris Ali dead. Roni received initial treatment and was later referred to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for advanced care.
"Police went to the scene after receiving information. Legal procedures are underway," the OC added.
