At least four people were killed in separate road accidents in Brahmanbaria last night.

Of them, three died in Nabinagar upazila, while another lost his life in Sarail upazila.

In Nabinagar, three people were killed in a head-on collision between a CNG-run auto-rickshaw and a motorcycle on the Nabinagar-Radhika regional road around 9:00pm, Md Abdur Razzak, officer-in-charge of Nabinagar Police Station, said.

The dead were identified as Akhtar Khandakar, 60, of Nabinagar; Billal Hossain, 55, a union council member from Bogdohor village; and Sirajul Islam, also from the same village. All three were riding the motorcycle at the time of the accident.

According to police and locals, the collision occurred near the Konikara area when a CNG-run auto-rickshaw coming from Brahmanbaria collided with a motorcycle.

Akhtar died on the spot, while five others in both vehicles were injured.

The injured were initially taken to Nabinagar Upazila Health Complex and later referred to different hospitals in Cumilla, where Billal and Sirajul succumbed to their injuries.

Razzak said legal steps are under way.

In a separate incident, a motorcyclist was killed after being hit by an unidentified vehicle on the Dhaka–Sylhet Highway in the Bertola area of Sarail Upazila around 10:15pm.

The deceased was identified as Debashish Mohanto, son of Badal Chandra Mohanto of Sadullapur in Gaibandha.

Khatihata Highway Police Station OC Md Mamunur Rahman said Debashish worked for an NGO in Savar and was returning to his workplace on a motorcycle after visiting Brahmanbaria with a colleague.
