4 killed in lightning strikes in 3 districts

Four people were killed in lightning strikes in Kishoreganj, Lalmonirhat, and Kurigram today.
In Kishoreganj, two people were killed in Karimganj and Itna upazilas.
A farmer, Nirodh Das, 60, died in a lightning strike while boiling paddy in front of his house in Doilong area of Itna Haor this afternoon, said Itna Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mohammad Raihanul Islam.
On the other hand, Matiur Rahman, 30, died when he went to the bank of the Chhechhra river near his house to bring paddy in a truck during the rain around 6:15pm, said his uncle Md Sharif Mia, member of Ward 9 of Niamatpur Union Parishad.
In Lalmonirhat, Safiar Rahman, 58, a betel trader of Baura union of Patgram upazila, was killed while he was going to his shop from home this morning, said Patgram Police Station Officer-in-Charge Swapan Kumar Sarkar.
In Kurigram's Ulipur upazila, Chameli Rani, 42, a farmer of Dharanibari union, was killed when she went to bring cattle from the field during a storm, said Ulipur Police Station OC Zillur Rahman.
