3 dead, 5 hurt in Sirajganj
Three people were killed and five injured when an ambulance carrying body of a Savar victim overturned on Pabna-Nagarbari highway in Shahjadpur upazila of Sirajganj on Sunday.
Father and husband of Tahura Begum, whose body was retrieved from the nine-storey Rana Plaza on Saturday, were heading towards their village home at Chandai village in Atghoria upazila of Pabna carrying the body in the ambulance, reported our Pabna correspondent.
The accident took place around 7:30am when the driver of the ambulance lost his control over the steering and hit a fuel-laden lorry, said Abdul Jalil, an inspector of Shahjadpur Police Station.
Following the impact of the hit, the ambulance turned turtle on the road near Baghabari bridge, killing two pedestrians on the spot, the inspector added.
The deceased were identified as: Nurul Islam, 27, helper of the ambulance; and two pedestrians--Lokman Hossain, 28, and Taizul, 40, of Alokdiar village in the upazila.
Five passengers of the ambulance sustained critical injuries.
They are: Abdul Subhan, father of Tahura; Md Shahin, her husband; and Dulal, Lal Mia and Sharmin.
The detail identities of Dulal, Lal and Sharmin were not known immediately.
The injured were rushed to Bera Upazila Health Complex in Pabna, the inspector confirmed.
According to the latest rally, at least 366 people were killed and over 2,400 rescued alive from the nine-storey building that collapsed on Wednesday.
