Women for Women and Women's Voluntary Association (WVA) organised a condolence meeting in memory of rhymester Hosne Ara Kamal at WVA auditorium in the city yesterday.
Hosne Ara, wife of former chief justice Mustafa Kamal and daughter-in-law of legendary folk singer Abbasuddin, passed away on April 16.
Prof Rawshan Ara Rahman was present at the programme while Prof Latifa Akand was special guest.
Jahanara Huq, former principal of Mirpur Bangla College and member of WVA, spoke on the school life of Hosne Ara where she was an icon of brilliance at extracurricular activities.
She could think differently and was advanced than any of her contemporary women, Jahanara added.
“If we take an initiative to publish the unpublished writings of this great soul, that would be the best tribute to her great memories,” she also said.
The programme began with songs rendered by Prof Nashid Kamal.
