Hamdard University to be set up
State Minister for Religious Affairs Md Shahjahan Mia MP yesterday said here that the Hamdard University will be set up in order to modernise as well as expand the Unani system of medicine in the country.
Hamdard has made great progress step by step to ensure better medical services to the people through herbal medicine, he added.
He was speaking as the chief guest at a reception accorded to him by Hamdard Laboratories Bangladesh at its factory at Meghna Ghat under Sonargaon upazila yesterday morning.
Presided over by Hakim Md Yusuf Harun Bhuiyan, managing director of Hamdard Bangladesh, the reception was attended by lawmaker Abdullah Al Kawsar, Sonargaon upazila Chairman Mosharraf Hossen and Waqf Administrator MH Farhad Khan.
Hamdard laboratories established at Meghna Ghat on 100 bighas of land in 2004 would popularise the Unani system of medicine.
The state minister assured the workers and employees of the Hamdard that their salaries and allowances would be increased as their organisation has been turned into the pride of the nation by serving people and earning profits.
Earlier, he went round different sections of the Hamdard laboratories.
Later, special prayer was offered for early recovery of the husband of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Dr MA Wazed Mia, who is undergoing treatment at Square Hospital in Dhaka.
