The High Court (HC) yesterday granted anticipatory bail for two months to BNP leader Chowdhury Tanbir Ahmed Siddiky's son Chowdhury Irad Ahmed Siddiky in a defamation case filed by BNP Chairperson's Adviser ASM Hannan Shah.
After hearing the bail petition filed by Irad Ahmed Siddiky, an HC bench of Justice Syed AB Mahmudul Huq and Justice Moyeenul Islam Chowdhury also issued a rule upon the government to show cause within two weeks why the petitioner should not be granted regular bail in this case.
Irad appeared before the HC bench for bail in the case.
Hannan Shah filed the case on March 15 with the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's (CMM) Court against Irad for making offensive comments against the BNP chairperson and him (Hannan) on March 9 at a press briefing
Dr Kamal Hossain appeared for the petitioner.
