Jatiya Party (Ershad) vice-president and former lawmaker Shahadat Hossain was expelled from the party for breaking discipline of the political organisation.
On contact, JP chairman HM Ershad's press secretary Sunil Shuva Roy confirmed that he had been expelled from the party yesterday.
District JP member secretary Asharafuzzaman Ashu urged party leaders and activists to snap political relationship with the expelled leader.
However, Shahadat Hossain said severed ties with Jatiya Party long time ago and he is contesting for chairmanship of Kaliganj upazila with hope to serve the people as a public representative.
"Being jealous of my popularity, a vested quarter in the party is now spreading statement against me," he said.
