Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against former BNP lawmaker Abdul Wahab for allegedly hiding Tk 89 lakh 82, 677 in his wealth statement.
Jessore ACC sub-assistant director Wazed Ali Gazi filed the case with Jhenidah Sadar Police Station yesterday.
ACC asked Wahab, elected from Jhenidah-1(Shailkupa) constituency, to submit his wealth statement on May 8 this year. On receipt of the notice on May 15, Wahab submitted his wealth statement of Tk 83 lakh 68,000. But ACC detected that the former BNP lawmaker owned wealth worth Tk 1 crore 73,61,187. Wahab has hidden information of Tk 89, 82,677 in the wealth statement, ACC said.
Wahab has been hiding after 1/11. He allegedly took side of BNP reformists to save him from arrest. He is yet to return to his own constituency.
However, he could not be contacted till filing of this report although this correspondent tried to contact him on several occasions.
