Khulna BNP expels 'reformist' ex-president, ex-secretary

Convening committee of Khulna City BNP yesterday removed former president of Khulna City BNP ex-lawmaker M Nurul Islam Dadu and former general Secretary of the same committee Nazrul Islam Manju from party posts and cancelled their primary membership of the party.
A protest meeting presided over by Shaharuzzaman Martuza, member secretary of the convening committee of Khulna City BNP, unanimously took the decision.
The meeting was held at the party office in observance of 'Bondi Mukti Dibosh' (prisoners' release day).
Terming Nurul Islam Dadu and Nazrul Islam Manju as 'agent saboteurs', speakers at the rally said the two leaders were involved in deep conspiracy to damage image of the party being in touch with so-called reformists and actors of 1/11 changeover.
Apart from anti-BNP activities with the connivance of reformists under expelled central leaders Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan and Ashraf Hossain's leadership, Dadu and Manju openly spoke against against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and her two sons, they said. They did it to hush up their misdeeds committed during BNP-led four-party alliance rule, speakers said.
A resolution on the two leaders' removal from their party posts and cancellation of their primary membership had been sent to the central committee for approval, said a press release issued by city convening committee of the party.
When contacted, Nurul Islam Dadu said the decision of expulsion was taken in violation of party constitution.
Nazrul Islam Manju could not be contacted as he is absconding in connection with a criminal case.
