Jalil returns home


After about six months of treatment in Singapore, ailing Awami League General Secretary Abdul Jalil returned home last night.
Several hundred party leaders and activists welcomed the AL leader at Zia International Airport.
According to sources, Jalil arrived at ZIA by a Singapore Airlines flight at 10:40pm and was taken straight to his Gulshan residence.
Arriving at the airport, the AL general secretary said, "I am well. I've come back home almost recovered. I want people's prayers for me so I may get well completely to serve the country."
Party sources said AL Acting President Zillur Rahman, Acting General Secretary Syed Ashraful Islam, presidium members Amir Hossain Amu and Suranjit Sen Gupta, central leaders Abdul Mannan, Mahmudur Rahman Manna and a number of other central leaders received Jalil at the airport.
Being released from detention on parole for a month, Jalil flew to Singapore on March 3 of this year and underwent treatment in Mount Elizabeth Hospital. His parole was later extended several times.
