Sadakalo arranged a fashion show on April 5 at the ballroom of Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel, Dhaka. Warid sponsored the event titled 'Sadakalo Fashion for Bangladesh 2008'. Radio Foorti, and ntv were the media partners of the show. Renowned beautician Farzana Shakil also assisted the show.
The venue was abuzz with much verve as the who's who in the media world arrived in style. Familiar faces from the television, music and fashion industry attended the event. The event showcased the collections of designers Bibi Russell, Shahrukh Amin, Emdad Haque, Roxana Mariam Salam and Kuhu. Fashion house Sadakalo has taken the initiative to hold a show annually so that the fashion enthusiasts can keep up with the current trends.
The show began with a presentation that went over the creation and journey of Sadakalo. The fashion house began its journey in October 2002 with the opening of its first branch at Rifles Square, Dhanmondi. The innovative designs in black and white soon became popular. Sadakalo went on to open three more outlets at Banani, Bailey Road and Gulshan Avenue.
A display of Bibi Russell's collection kicked off the show. Aptly named Ma, the collection was a tribute to the designer's mother who passed away recently. The models walked the ramp to the songs of Iffat Ara Dewan, Abbasuddin and Nilufar Yasmin. When the seasoned designer was called on stage she said, "I'm privileged to be a part of this arrangement. I want to thank Tahsina Shahin and Syed Md. Azharul Haque Azad of Sadakalo for supporting designer like us and our works."
Bibi Russell's collection was followed by the exotic Swetosyam -- designs by Sharukh Amin. The audience greeted the models with a round of applause as they presented the beautiful creations by the designer; Esho shyamolo shundoro, Ek paye nupur and Purano shei diner kotha played in the background.
Emdad Haque's (director of Banglar Mela) stunning collection Shondhya was next. The models displayed his creations to the renditions by Sawjib and Sumi.
Roxana Mariam Salam who was next in queue presented a unique collection -- Boishakher Chhowa. The models walked the ramp, dressed in attires that varied from kameez with pants to skirts and jackets. A feature that sets Roxana's creations apart is the use of hijaab.
The final collection was designer Kuhu's Roudro Chhaya. The concept of the collection was the relationship between light and shade, glimmer and gloom.
As the show wrapped up, all the designers along with proprietors of Sadakalo -- Tahsina Shahin and Syed Md. Azharul Haque Azad; Farzana Shakil and Natasha Hayat walked the ramp. Shahrukh Amin did the choreography and make-up was done by Farzana Shakil.
