Pranab to visit in-laws'house on Tuesday


Narail district administration has renovated the house of Indian President Pranab Mukherjee's father-in-law at Bhadrabila village. Bhadrabila village under Sadar upazila of the district is in festive mood as Indian President Pranab Mukherjee is expected to visit the house of his in- laws at the village during his three-day official visit to Bangladesh, beginning today.
Mukherjee will visit his in-laws' house for the first time since he took over as president.
District administration sources said a helicopter, carrying Pranab Mukherjee and his wife Shuvra Mukherjee, will land on Narail Government Boys' High School ground in the town at 10:55am on March 5.
Soon after their arrival, they will go to Bhadrabila village on the bank of the Chitra River. Deputy Commissioner Md Zohirul Haque said the Indian president is likely to stay at his father-in-law's house at the village for 55 minutes and then leave for Kushtia to visit Tagore's Kuthibari at Shilaidaha.
Kazi Rakib Cintu, a resident of Bhadrabila village, said, “It is a great pleasure for us that Pranab Mukharjee, our brother in law, will visit our village. We will accord a warm reception to him.”
Shuvra was born to late Amarendro Ghose and Mira Rani Ghose on October 17, 1943. She is the eldest among four brothers and four sisters. Shuvra's family but her brother Kanai Lal Ghose moved to India in 1952.
Shuvra married Pranab Mukherjee when she was a student of history department of Kolkata University in 1957.
During the 1971 Liberation War, Pakistani occupation army and their local collaborators vandalised the temple and Amarendro's house at Bhadrabila village. After liberation, Kanai Lal rebuilt the temple and the house.
Narail district administrationhas renovated the house, while the district council and LGED department are repairing the road leading to Bhadrabila village, around eight kilometers away from the district headquarters.
In 1995, Shuvra Mukharjee along with her daughter Shormistha Mukharjee visited the house at Bhadrabila village.
